The KD Villa: A Luxury Malaysian Home

Classical by name, classical by nature…

This villa in Kota Damansara showcases the best of classical beauty and features some of the top high-end modern home amenities you could possibly have in your home.

In this visual tour, we’ll take you through the interiors of the villa and showcase the architectural beauty of the home, one room at a time.

The KD Villa, as we like to refer to it, is a 12,000 sqft home that unabashedly showcases artisan-like interiors of a classical architectural style combined with modern accents creating an overall “modern classical style”.

With seven bedrooms, two master bathrooms, a walk-in closet, two kitchens, a grand foyer, a home theater, and an entertainment room on top of the home’s regular spaces

It’s one of the grandest projects that we’re proud to present.

The Foyer

Located on the second floor, this foyer features many elaborate classical details that escape one’s perception at first.

The classically molded layers in the ceilings have ornamental designs that look simple but implement chiaroscuro-esque aspects that play with light and shadow, which subtly complement the layers of light in the room.

There is another key element that unifies the dimensions in this foyer; Can you try to identify it?

The answer lies in the marble inlay flooring in the center of the room.

Marble flooring itself is a popular choice when it comes to high-end flooring, and for many reasons, too. Its elegant design serves as a quality option that’s cost-effective, durable with low maintenance, and naturally deters allergens and microbes (when cleaned with care).

Blending an inlay design into your interior’s flooring creates another layer of style into your overall design scheme, serving as a divider between rooms or as an outline for object placement.

In this space, the marble inlay serves as a focal element in the space, accentuating, and adding to the layers of architectural style in the room.

Alternatively, this inlay design can be replicated with a large carpet but when opting for permanence, inlay floors are the way to go!

The Living Room

It doesn’t take much to regard the elegance of this living room.

Easily accommodating 20 or more guests, this hall was given great attention to detail, from the chandeliers, the gilded gold frames on the left wall, to the built-in aquarium at the end of the hall.

The furniture itself was chosen to compliment not only the carpet but also the design of the textured paint that was used on the walls.

It also serves as a style accent in the ceiling treatments that outline the chandeliers.

Decorating your walls with textured paint is a great way to reflect the sophistication of space in color, texture, and even lighting.

See how the walls complement the color, texture, and fabrics of the furniture without having the clutter of excess furnishings?

They all blend together in harmony to create an eye-catching and inviting atmosphere that will charm guests without fail.

The living hall also includes a more intimate space to the right of the living hall, able to host 5-7 guests, for smaller gatherings of close friends and associates.

The use of columns in this space gives an attractive element, providing balance in design standards and adding visual interest without being too overwhelming.

Additionally, its paired with tall curtains, giving the illusion of a more towering room.

This space has a softer color palette than the grand living hall but does not lack in sophistication. Darker colors of the piano and coffee table give a stark contrast to the softer cream colors of the rest of the space that conveys a balanced ambiance.

These contrasts also blend with accents of the feature wall on the far right, which has classical elements in the columns and wainscoting

Bringing focus to the modern TV display where a fireplace would traditionally be.

Altogether, these small but sound aspects give this living hall just the right amount of comfort luxury.

The Family Room

Family halls are cherished spaces for balance and good relations, especially in homes with traditional values.

To reflect that, this family hall uses age-old design principles of order and proportion to improve the room.

If you noticed in the last two photos, the family room and secondary living area both have similar feature walls for the TV area.

That is because the best way to add interest to a blank wall is by adding an accent wall or “feature” wall.

The proportion of the middle wall is extruded outward to emphasize its importance (i.e., the tv area or fireplace, etc.). It also has two accompanying wall panels on each side (symmetry) pushed behind it to compliment the middle section.

Our brains look for symmetry and find harmony in it.
Classical design is known for this concept, as it perfectly balances between simple and lavish tastes.

When executed correctly, they lend a peaceful feel to a space.

The Dining Hall

This dining room is as quintessentially pristine as a dining room can be!

Designed with elegant, timeless materials, laced with marble walls and roman ceiling molds, it will leave all your guests wondering how you ever manage to keep it looking perfect.

This stunning dining table for 14 can accommodate all the requirements for a magical dining experience, whether your dining room serves as an intimate space for gathering with close friends, a formal gathering to wine & dine your business associates, or a private place to share with close family.

Every homeowner deserves a home that is tailored to your specific needs.

The key to creating a great dining experience is to find the style that suits your hosting needs and home flawlessly.

The Dry Kitchen

As if that dining table wasn’t lavish enough, this dry kitchen really makes this room a dream come true for the hostess with the most-ess!

Echoing the dining table, the kitchen island extends the line of sight in this space and is the perfect countertop for all your dinner prep & wine-tasting needs.

Made of solid wood, it’s the highest quality, durability, aesthetic, and just like wine, it’ll get better with age.

When working with solid wood, layering spray paint will give the hardwood a much higher quality and finished look.

Spray paint is also much easier to maintain compared to laminate surfaces, as you can easily go over scratches or damages with a new coat of paint.

The counter-top adds another layer of elegance to the atmosphere; this is because it’s made of luminous, veined brown marble. Known for its aesthetic and affordability, it brings a unique quality that other counter-top materials simply can’t duplicate.

The L-shaped cabinetry provides ample storage space for dining cutleries and necessities and honors the other dark shades in the color palette by bringing a sense of order into the design.

We took extra care in lighting the kitchen area, so we incorporated the three fundamental types of lighting in interior design (ambient, task, and accent).

Large windows with blinds allowed plenty of natural light to flood the room when needed, and the spotlighting in the ceiling illuminated areas of the space where the most utility would be.

As for the accent lighting in this room, we didn’t shy away from the luxurious chandeliers, unabashedly matching the dining area!

Layered ceiling molds subtly complement the kitchen lighting, making the kitchen feel roomier.

The Wet Kitchen

When one kitchen isn’t enough, get two!

Possibilities are endless when cooking & dining in this kitchen, that’s because it was designed to be as task-efficient as it is visually pleasing.

The double-tiered kitchen island lets you and your loved ones have an easy cooking & dining experience, with double sink vanities for immediate clean up right after.

The spotlighting in this kitchen reflecting on the stone walls not only helps to brighten the room alongside big windows, but it also makes the room feel more elegant and clean.

Paired with the dramatically veined marble island counter-top, it really elevates the kitchen to the height of luxury!

There may not seem like there’s enough storage room, that’s because the cabinetry in this kitchen was designed to be hidden out of sight, as to not clutter the focus.

The built-in fridge, the L-shaped countertop, and even that gorgeous island incorporate hidden storage cabinets and drawers to keep unwanted appliances and accessories out of your way.

The Home Office

Classical aesthetic lies in the smallest details, and when accomplished right, reflects a stable status of success and timeless beauty.

This home office serves as a strong model of uniting sophisticated elements of beautiful details into a space without overwhelming the senses.

The synchronicity in the design of the bespoke built-in cabinets frames the window with a perfect cut out stone window counter on the far end of the room and a desk in the middle.

Making the desk the main focal point and authority figure of the room, it becomes the most dominant point in the space that demands your attention away from the detailing of the wainscoting and lighting above, keeping you centered in your work.

And in the likelihood you lift your head up for inspiration, we took great care in crafting the ceiling works in the space, incorporated with a classic Roman style molding that encircles the modern chandelier hanging at the center of the room.

Complimenting the desk lamp, creating gorgeous and warm lighting to ease the toll on the senses which also perfectly blends with the color palette and functionality of the room!

The Entertainment Room

After a day of hard work, you can kick it back and spend some quality time with your loved ones in the bespoke entertainment room.

Looking at this room, it’s clear that staying at home is a lot easier when your estate has everything you need and want without having to leave your quarters.

Homes are more than just properties, they are an extension of ourselves and embody how we live day-to-day.

It’s not just the necessities anymore, as now we are all experiencing that having the excess space to include leisure rooms for social activities, entertainment, family, work, and health have all become necessary for your home.

If you look at the homes of the world’s elite on YouTube, you’ll notice that all their properties include pools, gyms, cinema rooms, bars, BBQ areas, guest rooms, offices, wine cellars, saunas and sometimes even bowling alleys or a virtual golf course.

This could be for several reasons, its either a preference to isolate themselves from the public for safety and privacy reasons

From the ceiling treatments and textured paint to the mirror accents and the headboard, this bedroom is the epitome of private indulgence.

If your home has an open floor plan that combines your living and dining room with your kitchen, there’s almost nowhere to grab that small opportunity for total privacy.

A luxury closet easily addresses this hindrance with ease and enjoyment.
